Third outlet is for digital audio. Two RCA jacks for analog audio, left and right. And one for digital audio. Would use this output to connect to a digital input on a A/V receiver.

The two outlets, outputs, are for line level audio out, and are not connected to speakers, but to an amplifier or A/V receiver, which is then connected to speakers. The third outlet, output, is a digital coax output, and then connected to an A/V receiver, which is then connected to speakers.
