I suggest to replace, that is why I went with the Onkyo, to replace the Sony I had. Just make sure you have the correct input and output jacks on the tuner or amp..

Funny you should ask - I had a 1980's Technics single disc player too! All I did was unplug the old player, and used the same plug-in and just swapped it out with this one. Easy-peazy.

I recently purchased the Onyko cd player from Best Buy and I am very happy so far with this selection. I had a Marantz cd player that I purchased in the 90's and when I tried to replace it I was told that everyone is streaming music now and the one I had could not be replaced or fixed.
