“In order to use the screen protector to keep it from getting scratched, do I need to come into a store to have it put on properly? I've always had problems getting it on without air bubbles. On my last phone, I used a cover that opens like a book.”

If so it's like a case within a case not the film you usually get with the traditional screen protectors. If not and if you are worried about air bubbles I would take it in to best buy they can do it for you.
