YES you do! Let me be clear, you can NOT use this case with a glass screen protector. I made the mistake of applying one after I had the case and it messed up the case entirely. I had to press extra hard for it to register anything and Touch ID did not work as well with both on. The case is designed to mold to the frame of the original iPhone 8, the extra half a millimeter makes a huge difference!!! Do NOT use this case AND an additional glass screen protector PLEASE

You only take the Otter Case off for instance, when you want to clean the inside of the Otter Case. BUY IT !
