The Oura Ring does not register EKG or ECG, meaning it cannot measure the electrical activity of your heart like medical-grade devices do. Instead, it uses optical sensors (PPG) to track metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and blood oxygen levels during sleep. While these features provide helpful insights into overall wellness and recovery, they are not designed to detect heart conditions or irregular rhythms. In short, the Oura Ring is excellent for tracking health trends, but it is not a substitute for an ECG-capable device or professional medical monitoring.
