“The web image shows the device to be 22 1/16 inches wide with the door closed. Does the open door require more space and add inches to the width of the device measurement. I want to place the device on a pre-existing shelf 22 3/8 in. wide”

My machine measures 21 5/8, and it requires an extra 1/8 inch for the swing of the door. Maybe others have a different measurement.

Place the front surface of the door 3 inches (7.6 cm) or more from the counter top edge to avoid accidental tipping of the microwave oven during normal use. For proper operation, the oven must have sufficient air flow. Allow 6 inches (15 cm) of space on the top of the oven, 4 inches (10 cm) at back and 2 inches (5 cm) on both sides. If one side of the oven is placed flush to a wall, the other side or top must not be blocked. -M
