“I'm using a sony receiver. When I play blu rays or anything that is dolby 5.1 or dts, the receiver displays LINEAR PCM instead of dolby digital or dts. The player is displaying the correct mode, but the receiver is displaying LINEAR PCM. What is wrong?”

Ok, so I think I had similar issues with my audio for a bit, I mean I’m just using a sound bar/subwoofer combo where unless it was a 4k blu ray that had Dolby Atmos listed as a feature it would display PCM on my sound bar and the volume would have to be cranked up twice as high and the quality wasn’t great and I accessed the advanced audio controls on my Hisense TV and there’s a control called Digital Audio Out and I switched it from Auto to “pass through” and it fixed everything. It all sounds great now. Hope that helps.
