Hi, Alan! One frame of the recorded video can be recorded as a still image. If you touch the camera icon or press the multi-dial, the scene will be recorded as a still image when played back. Also, the number of pixels of the still image to be recorded is the same as the number of pixels of the recorded video. This can be done more than once. [INVALID] will be displayed when the still image cannot be recorded in cases such as there is not enough remaining recording capacity in the memory card. Hope this helps! -C
