“We have a hub already. I see another option of buying a starter pack that includes a bridge? Do you have to have that bridge, for these lights to work? Or can I just buy these lights b/c we already have a hub? It's a gift so I'm clueless with all this.”

You can just buy these lights since you own the HUB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you already own the bridge, no need for another. If you have a hub like Smarthings, I would also use the bridge. The bridge makes all your Hue products connect to it, then the bridge talks to your modem/router.
