Gen 3 and Gen 4 lightstrips do not use the same pins. You cannot connect a Gen 3 lightstrip to a Gen 4 extension. The different generations are hub compatible, which is fine if you have two independent strips, but if you just want to extend an existing strip it won't work. Philips and vendors are not forthcoming in their advertising but the gen 4 will say Bluetooth. I am left to assume that the non-Bluetooth are gen 3 compatible, but it is not something I can prove, so buyer-beware.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.These are gen 3.As long as you have a Hue hub, they will all work together. The issue arises if you don't have a hub, in which case gen 4 with bluetooth will not work with the previous generations.
