• You do use the phone app or voice commands via Google home or Alexia. You must have a bridge to connect the Wi-Fi

• I don’t think so. I think the hub is what links the lights to the WiFi and the app. Without the hub, you won’t be able to set anything up. I would suggest a starter pack. You get the hub and several lights for a fraction of the cost piecing it together. Hope this helps
