Yes. You will need a bride for these to work. The extension set is for extending the length of this product. The extenders do not work by themselves.

Otherwise, you just have a white bulb/strip or whichever Hue item you buy which obviously defeats the purpose... & the extensions are just that; you get them as needed to extend a Strip if you needed it longer... If you only need 80" (6'6 ft) then you only need a Strip. If you need longer than that, you add Extensions. Just to be clear, Extensions don't work without the Strip. You may know this already, but since you asked how they work, I just wanted to be certain you know...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need a bridge or the new Alexa that has the bridge built in. The extension adds 40 inches to the lightstrip plus. The extension doesn't work independently it just let's you add 40" with each extension.

Please try again later.Yes you need the hue bridge (but thankfully it can connect up to 50 hue products so you will probably only buy one for all your hue products) Once you set up your bridge and first strip, you will just connect the extension at the end of the first strip, as you plug a lamp in a socket ☺️ Note that the extension is optional.
