It recommends that you put them 2" - 5" from the edges of your TV. It's very bright so you don't have to worry about it being too far from the edge of your TV.

Please try again later.As long as you place the mid-point of the light strip in the middle of the center clip, and assuming the rounded clips are placed on the same location on opposite sides of the TV, the cables should be even on each side. The harder thing to gauge is how far in from the edge you should place the clips (and making sure it's the same on each side). I have a 65" Sony and the back of the TV is not completely flat. I placed each clip around 3.25" in from the edge of the TV. In the end it probably doesn't make the biggest difference because the light is thrown against the wall which gives you some margin for error.
