You can configure the bulbs in any way you would like. The only issue is that they use the same switch, so in order to turn off your overhead light you would need to physically flip the switch. This becomes a problem because the HUE light bulb in the pendant needs to be switched to the on position at all times in order for the HUE app / HUE bridge to be able to control that light. This can be remedied by either getting another HUE bulb or by taking the extra step of going into your app to turn off the pendant each time you want to turn on the overhead independently.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You could but would need to leave the overhead on all the time. Hue must be powered at the switch in the on position constantly. You turn them off via an app or connected home device like amazon Alexa. I would recommend replacing both with hue to avoid any issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You could use the hue light only in the pendant if you want to, but it would only be able to be on if the overhead is on as well since they are wired together. If you want independent control of each light, I would recommend having a hue bulb in each fixture. Philips also makes white only versions of their hue bulbs that are much cheaper if you don't spend extra for the colors.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use in only one. But only the Hue will be controlled by the app to change colors. When the wall switch is used to turn the lights on/off the light may return to default white light.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The switch must be on for Hue to work via the app. You can turn the switch off and on each time if you want but for the app to work or alexa to turn it on, the switch must be on at all times.
