Yes. It controls the light itself. Regardless of where power is coming from as long as light itself has power to it. Also this remote switch is battery powered.Don’t.know for sure if any of this was your exact question but hope it helps.

Second the remote works the hue lights, powered by the wall outlet. This remote will control the lights, how ever they get power, long as they are hooked to the hub. The 3 button switch allows you to connect and control with the need of a hub. This needs a hub. Please rephrase your question, so I can better help.
