“If you lose your charger can you use any ac adapter and does it indicate whether or not it’s charging or not?”

• No charge light. It would be safe to use an other charger but you would have to look on the unit to find out the charge rate so you don't degrade the battery.

• If it has the right connector. And no it doesn't let you know if it's charging. But use it till it's all used up then fully charge it for 8 hours and it will last a long time!
