I believe it starts out at 180 sessions and it counts down based on how hard and how many times you brush a day. In the app it keeps count down you can also hook it up to Amazon or Alexa and have it order new heads when time is up with current brush head!

The brush head is (on the app) rated for 180 sessions or roughly 3 months if you brush twice daily. It lets you know when you are due for a new brush head as you get closer to the end of its life. Philips sells a 2 pack A3 brush head for $30. The only maintenance on this toothbrush is the head itself. The brush should last you a long time.
