These are designed to be run in a surround sound system. In other words you need an av reciever to power the speakers.

You might want to pick up a receiver that allows more than just a l and r output. A receiver with tv audio ins and outs would allow you to use a sub woofer as well as a center channel speaker as well as additional satellite speakers. Best buy has some excellent choices with both quality at good prices. Also, give your speakers a gradual increase of volume as you use them, this will give the speakers a chance to get used to higher volumes. Speakers need a break in time, so to speak. Usually about 250 to 400 hrs.

The more paths for the signal (i.e. more speakers), the less signal goes to each one. May be time to invest in a receiver that takes the sound from the source (cable box, DVD player, etc.).
