How do I get the "cap" off the FD? null

There is no 'cap', just a slide mechanism. Hold the drive by the sides near the square end in the left hand and with the right hand grip the short rounded end and push it toward the left hand to expose the connection.

Slide the FD down to expose the USB plug. To close, slide the cover back up.

check to see if film(plastic) is around case.remove film.gently grasp top and bottom and wiggle back and forth,while apart.

You slide it forward. It doesn't come off

The "cap" does not come off, it just slides in and out of the body.
