I don't see why it would, this is a storage drive, your smart tv would have its own cache so it wouldn't use the thumb drive and I haven't seen any smart tv's where you can add storage to them like you would a dvr or x-box/playstation. You can still use this thumb drive though with your smart tv, if it has a usb port, if you put media files (video/music/photos) on the drive your smart tv would be able to play them from the drive and potentially save bandwidth by not having to stream the same media.
