This card is entry level for gaming. If your son wants to play PC games, this is a good choice. For anything else, it would be overkill.

Please try again later.In my opinion yes, while this card will free some RAM for processing games and what not, 6gb of RAM with an i3 processor is not a lot power for today’s gaming graphics. I installed this in my dell 12gb ram with an i7 tower and I literally only use my computer to do work from home. I’m an accountant and have rather large 27in ultra wide screens I use for my spreadsheets. This card gave a little better quality to the one game I do play (Civilization). But overall still not enough of a powerhouse to do graphic intense gaming.
