Hello, the Polk Audio XT12 subwoofer has two types of inputs. LFE/Line level input and Speaker Level input. It is best to place the subwoofer on the Floor. Floor placement is highly recommended resulting in maximum performance.

You can use an rca cable to connect this to receiver if your receiver has sub out. If your receiver does not have sub out you can use regular speaker wire to connect the receiver to the speaker level input on the sub. Then connect your speakers with regular speaker wire to the speaker level output on the sub.
