“I play music through bluetooth while gaming. When i hit the “home” button on ps4 controller, music stops, and switches to tv. If i mute / power off the soundbar, it still turns on by itself in the same scenario. Can it just stay in the mode i leave it in?”

This is a HDMI control feature (CEC) through the PS4 or the TV. You can try turning off the HDMI control CEC, but this will limit other features. When the sound bar receives a Bluetooth command, the CEC kicks in communicating with all devices using HDMI control.
