Definitely buying a new Joy con set would be beneficial as a extends the life of your joy times by having separate joy cons one for when playing on TV and one for when traveling with your switch

Yes. I do it all the time.  I do it so one pair is charging while I use the other pair to play.  If what I’m using gets low on battery, I switch them out with what’s charging on the switch.

That is an excellent option which you should pursue. I have 1 set of JoyCons on the portable Switch and the 2nd pair on the JoyCon Comfort Grip. You can keep them connected to the Switch while you use a wireless controller to play through the TV.

Yes of course you can. 
As long as you have additional controllers that setup with your switch, you can instantly connect and play. 
You can connect up to 4 controllers or 8 joycons in one switch. 
Once you plug your switch to tv, 
Turn on your 3rd controller. Go to setting and change your 3rd controller to 1st controller. And good to go. Very easy. 
My 4 years old son always do it himself.

Yes, we have 3 pairs of controllers and have no problems. You can leave the original 2 on the switch in the dock while you play with the other 2 controllers using the tv.

Yes of course! As long as you have two sets of joycons you can definitely leave two in the comfort grip, I would recommend getting a dock charger so you can charge them when not using them since they do not charge while on the comfort grip!

Yes, you can buy 2 additional controllers separately. I bought also a 4 controller charging station. It’s a circular stand that can hold 4 controllers, but as long as the switch is plugged into the base, 2 controllers can be plugged into the sides to charge while the other 2 are being used to play.

Yes you can buy another set of joy cons and yes them instead of the ones attached to your switch but you will have to attach the new ones to your switch to get them to sync to the switch at least as far as I know that is the easiest way to do it.
