• I do not keep my plugged in but if you want to use the battery part you will need to let it charge for about 6 hours or until you see the red light which means charged. I just use my by the outlet when I want to watch

• It is not necessary to keep the charge "topped up" while the unit is not being used. However, if the unit is kept charged it will be "ready to go" should you wish to use it powered by its internal battery.
