Nope it works perfectly fine without razers app the only thing you lose is free scroll you need the app for it to activate

So much can be changed from your scroll rate (both on the screen and the physical scroll itself), DPI, keybindings... Would Recommend downloading it

Please try again later.The app is not required and the mouse works fine without it, though I did install it first thing so I can't say what all the buttons will do without the app. The side buttons for forward and back are pretty standard, so I'd imagine they would work but beyond that who knows.
