My son is 12. I would think is probably fine for a nine year old too.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.These are average size headphones. They also sound amazing. We bought them for our 8 year old but, he has a big head lol. Your best bet would be to take him to Best Buy or Walmart and have him try some of the headphone they have on display.
