“Are the holes on the back of the motion detector for screws so that you can screw the motion detector into drywall? I don’t want to mount it into the wall all using the adhesive backing strip.”

We do not recommend using screws to mount the Ring Alarm Motion Detector as it can inhibit the performance of the device. For optimal performance, we advise peeling the tape from the adhesive pads and adhearing the device to a clean and dry wall, 7-8 feet from the ground.
