Yes you need Wi-Fi in order to set the camera up and stream to Ring. The camera doesn't have a built in memory so it's designed to stream to the Ring server. It works well if thats what your looking for, otherwise I'd go with a wired version connected to a PC or recorder.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you definitely need WiFi for the camera floodlight to work. And, you need to have a strong WiFi connection. Without WiFi or a strong, stable connection, it will not work. I generally have a good WiFi connection, but the camera floodlight loses the connection a few times per week. It goes down for several minutes until it re-establishes the connection. I have a good, expensive WiFi router, but it is a few years old. All my other devices that use WiFi work flawlessly on my router. But I may have to get a new, stronger WiFi router or a WiFi extender since the camera floodlight seems to require a very strong connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My camera had a fair Wi-Fi signal. The unit will report the quality of the signal, or if the camera cannot connect. It will also upload images when the signal is strong enough. I purchased a Wi-Fi extender to get the signal strength high enough that the camera stays connected through the day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the camera requires Wi-Fi. Without it, it functions as a normal flood lamp. I needed a Wi-Fi extender to get it to work full time.
