“I am purchasing a Ring security light camera today. Is the camera attached hard wire powered with the lights or is it separate and rechargeable like the doorbell? I don't keep the lights on all day, but would like the camera to be working.”

The floodlight camera is hardwired. The wall switch must be kept on. You can program when the light is on from the Ring app. If you have another light on the same wall switch I would suggust a wifi Programmable Screw-In Light socket.
