In order to get proper motion detection, battery-powered cameras using passive infrared motion detection, should not be placed facing a window or in front of a glass door. Here is a helpful article that elaborates more on the passive infrared motion detection used in our battery devices, such as the Ring Video Doorbell 3: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022462472-Utilizing-Motion-Detection-with-your-Ring-Battery-Devices. We invite you to reach out at https://community.ring.com/ if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell 3 pre-purchase question. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback/experiences with Ring. Thank you, Alexis with Ring
