No outside service needed to use this product, works great with the free Ring app. Works great with iPhones.I was told that Ring works great well Alexa and Sonos products which we also have, we just haven't needed to use with our Ring. You may want the additional plugin "doorbell." We are so happy with this product that we are adding to the system and adding Ring cameras to our animal barn so we can check on their safety through the winter months.
