So the Ring Doorbell has motion sensor detection and of course the doorbell notification. In a busy hallway, you will want to deactivate the motion sensor so that you do not always get notified. If you have it linked to your computer only, then it will record for 15-30 seconds the time of ringing if you do not answer. You won’t know someone is there until you get to your computer until you link it to your phone or another Wifi enabled device. The doorbell works off Wifi, so if you have a Wifi enabled device with you that is linked to the doorbell, you can be notified that way. The Ring doorbell has a built in rechargeable battery. I would recommend the Ring 2 if you plan on always charging it as oppose to hard wiring it. Hope that helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't buy this if there is a lot of traffic outside your hallway....it'll drive you crazy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe this doorbell can only be used on devices that can download apps - it might be compatible with a Chromebook or Mac. You can turn off the motion so that it will not ring every time someone passes your door. Unless you are carrying your computer with you and connected to the internet, you will not be able to see who rang your bell until you get home.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That's a technical question to ask the company. They may suggest ways to handle your case that I wouldn't know about. Call them. They are great to talk to & will send email messages back & forth to you. Good luck..
