“My cable box has been updated and i have lost surround sound. By installing a Digital Audio Cable from my Receiver to my cable box will this allow me to have surround sound capability.”

• Only if the box itself supports all the channels your surround supports over the optical cable. If it’s only set to push stereo over the cable you get stereo. Check the settings on the box itself

• Yes it would. This is the cable that I bought for my sound bar because using the USB would not give me the audio quality and I didn’t wand to connect through Bluetooth

• It’s should if it has an optical audio port on the cable box and TV

• This should work. But if you have a connection from the tv, its a better way to go.. HDMI is a better option.
