“Is this what I need? I have a modem with 2 telephone inputs, router input, usb input, and one tv input. I would like to add another tv, is this the product I need? I will only be using one tv at a time, will it still affect the signal to the tv that is in use?”

This will split the cable feed to your modem to allow you to hook up a tv box from the same feed, it will attenuate the signal even if you aren't using the tv box, but the loss is negligible unless you are stringing splitters.
