Yes, this cable will give you a better picture and motion quality for your TV. I got one for 4 feet and is enough length. You really need a short cable since the Samsung UHD TV comes with its own connectivity box which you connect HDMI cable.

Yes, you need a good cable that handles 4K like most of them do now. I would error on the long side for cable length to allow for up or down cabinets, etc. Too short and you will be back to the store for a longer one. You should be able to run this right from the Direct TV box to your TV and be done. Best wishes!
