• this is actually used to go from HDMI to a DVI source unless you are using it to plug a computer to a TV where the HDMI port is receiving the image.

• Converts to HDMI only, it's a DVI male to HDMI male device.

• It works for displaying from my VAIO Laptop HDMI to my Apple Cinema DVI so I would say it works both ways.
