My husband mounted our 60" over the fireplace. He bought this gadget from the Home Depot to locate the beams.. no additional or special screws were needed.

They are a expansion anchor vs. a screw. You can use the same diameter anchor, but you may have to play around with a couple of different lengths to even the bar out. Also, it wouldnt be a bad idea to pack out the areas that have more slack/depth to them. It will give them bolts more to tighten against. Hope you project goes well!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did not find it difficult. I have a chase framed out by regular studs, not a masonry fireplace. The studs were not centered (I have pictures from before the drywall was installed) but the bracket allows for this with the slots. Rocketfish also includes a cardboard template you can put up to figure out where the mount will go. A simple stud finder, ratchet set, and drill for pre-drilling will be all you need to install this mount.
