Basically to hook it up with cable you need a cable box and a contract with a cable provider, who will install some other equipment at your location. The cable box probably has an hdmi port that connects with an hdmi port on your tv. You get whatever programming services ( aka cable channels ) you pay the cable company for. Alternatively you can get paid accounts with streaming service providers - netflix, hulu, apple tv etc, and view their content. You can connect the tv with wifi for these services, no wiring required. Some of these providers also have some traditional network tv included, for an extra fee ( hulu does, I have it myself ) , so you can use that to watch news programs etc. In fact if you do that you might well decide the cable service is redundant.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello Gloria , all these channels have apps on the Roku App Store, all you need to get started steaming is WiFi. (Some apps require subscriptions)
