• you plug the device into HDMI. you can plug the mini-usb power port directly to wall outlet. the included cord is maybe 3 ft, but you may already have an extra USB cord lying around if you even need it. you could always buy the device and then get a longer USB cord if your power outlet really is that far away from the TV.

• I measured one I had and the cord is approximately 5 ft. Also, it connects to the tv with a HDMI port, not usb.
