the warranty starts when you sign up with direct tv go. you wont have to worry about waiting to start the free month

You will find that out when you click on the apps. I used the free time for the DirectvNow app and because it had all of the TV channels that I watch, I did the pay subscription after the free time was up. Perfect! I am 71-year old woman and so I need convenience and low price. It is great! You will need WIFI and a modem... If you purchase your own modem but then it is yours (no monthly) and is inexpensive.
