You have to press input on your remote until you get to either HDMI1 or HDMI2 it should go back to cable.

You have a selection of Cable satellite hdmi 1 hdmi 2 hdmi3 hdmi4 my Roku is set up on hdmi4 I just select hdmi4 and you go to Roku then change back to cable or who ever your carrier is. Very simple. Takes a little bit to learn how to navigate around in Roku but once you get it viewing is endless.

If I understand your question, you simply change the input (or source) on your cable or TV remote .... You can generally change the appropriate input label on your TV to "ROKU" (Instead of HDMI 1 or HDMI2) ....
