You can add channels from the stick itself or from your Roku account, and you can also add 'secret' channels by adding the codes for those (non-official, self-developed channels for other services; you'd have to find the code or listings for those). Note that some channels still require you to have a valid subscription, so while having HBO, for instance, is possible on the Roku, without an HBO account you wouldn't be able to access any content.
