• I downloaded the Roku App and it has a remote function over WI-FI, meaning I don't have to be in the room to use it. I am not sure about programming another remote, it may be possible, but I would just download the free Roku App.

• I think it has to be a Roku controller, IDK if a universal controller could work. The controller has a "linking" button that connects it to the nearest device it detects.

• The roku comes with one remote. There also an app that controls the roku. You can also buy another remote for 14.99 on the roku website.
