Roku is a device that when activated allows access to hundreds of apps

Simply a collection of applications like on a cell phone that stream TV via your wireless internet connection. So instead of having to have a cable box, you have Roku and it streams from the internet. You can delve further into the details but personally I am rid of cable TV and use Roku solely. You have the option to watch all the common pay for Apps like Hulu and Netflix commercial free. There are also several free news and entertainment channels built in. For watching live TV you can use sling or PlayStation vue which are both subscription services but work well. Most of all... it's less than cable unless you over do it on subscriptions.

People can "stream" with laptop or tablet; this is just another way to watch content. Some older movies & even some recent TV series.

Stream is watching content online by a server witch is also found online (aka in the cloud).

Roku connects to wireless to stream channels to televisions.
