• We recommend turning off the water to the refrigerator when changing the water filter. Turning off the water will release the water pressure and make it easier to change the filter. We thank you for being a Samsung customer! ^Lena

• No. No need to close the water valve. Just twist the old filter counter clockwise and pull it out. Put the new one in by doing the reverse.
