We noticed those reviews, too. We have had our fridge now for 1-1/2 months and, while the noises are a little different than our other fridge, I would say it's actually quieter when it runs than our 12-year-old Whirlpool. The noises we notice: the ice dropping, a few "pops" here and there, a low whirring. All are now and then (when cooling or defrosting?) and none are a nuisance--mostly, it's perfectly quiet, no noise at all. The instructions are clear that once in place, the fridge must not rest on the front wheels but on the leveling legs which are turned down by hand. I understand that there would be a hum/vibration if this isn't done.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's loud that's the one thing that scares me and my kids if were up at night it's like someone throwing rocks at your fridge I can't return because of my 14 days are up but if I could I would only for that reson only and it's doing at as I type
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Roger, Thanks for the question. There are a variety of noises a refrigerator can make, and some can be minimized or even prevented by following some simple steps. I'd suggest reviewing the User Manual and online Troubleshooting Guide, both of which can be accessed on Samsung's website. Regarding the ice maker specifically, when ice falls into an empty bucket, it does make a noise. This noise can be reduced by keeping some ice in the bucket to help "break the fall" of ice being harvested. It's also possible to turn the ice maker off when the sound of ice being harvested might be inconvenient if you're in the vicinity of the refrigerator. You can turn the ice maker off and on with the press of a button on the control panel. - Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Other reviewers, the installer and my personal experience so far indicate that the ice maker is responsible for the loud popping sounds that MANY reviewers have heard. In my case I chose to not connect the ice maker at all (internal ice maker model) and so far no loud popping sounds at all. Sure it makes compressor running sound. Other brands or models may be quieter in that regard, but my wife and I agree that it is quieter than our 2 years old GE was. We find it just fine in our open concept kitchen/dinette/family room. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I see that these answers are yrs old. I have had my refrigerator since 12/10/19. It is very noisy. Sounds like an old hard drive running. The fan taps when the compressor kicks in. I just had a repairman here half an hour ago. He states that this fridge is and always will be noisy and will make more noise in the summer. If I was not past my 15 day to return I would. The first repairman that I was referred to me by Samsung never called and I lost 4 days, smh. Overall it is a nice fridge but can do with the constant noise!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We like the unit and especially like the price but it does make some loud noises. It sounds like ice dropping but we think it is something to do with the ice maker. It started right at the beginning. We have become used to the loud noise but do worry about when company is at our home because the refrigerator backs to the wall separating the kitchen and the guest bedroom.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When we got our Samsung refrigerator and plugged it in it was so quiet we thought it wasn't running. It is the quietest refrigerator I ever saw.
