The TV won't drive headphones on it's own, unless they are wireless headphones. It has a "fixed-level" analog audio output, and a digital optical output. With the analog output, you can add a small headphone amplifier, such as the Behringer HA-400 for around $50.00, and it will drive up to 4 headphones simultaneously. The volume of the headphones won't vary with the volume control of the TV, so.if want to use a pair of WIRED headphones, get a pair with an in-line volume control, such as the "V7 HA-510", which sells for around $10.00 from various websites.. The in-line control will make it very easy for an older person to adjust the volume-- It's a simple thumb-wheel.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TV offers both analog (3.5 mm) and digital (Optical), as well as an HDMI output that must work with a particular Samsung sound bar. All outputs I tested were fixed, and had to be adjusted but the attached speaker. Contacting Samsung verified - outputs are fixed. Should work OK with headphones that include volume control.
