The speakers and sub connect via Bluetooth. A universal remote may control the volume. The remote for the system allows you change the settings and volume.

You are correct, the TV remote will be able to control the volume of the soundbar when connected via digital optical audio; however, this soundbar is not compatible with Q Symphony technology. Q Symphony is compatible with Samsung Q Series soundbars, models HW-Q600A and above. This feature allows both the TV speakers with Object Tracking Sound to work along with the soundbar giving you a more immersive sound experience when compared to traditional soundbar setup without Q Symphony.
