I was in the same boat. I used a tape measure and I got about 35 1/2" and it will fit but it will be tight luckily the controls are not on the side but tucked inside a bit more so thats not an issue. I think the Tv itself is 35 1/2" but here is what you do go to Best Buy and take it out of the box after you buy it measure the tv onsite and if you are sure it wont fit you can return it right there with no issue. FYI if you used a tape measure and the 1/2" line has some play because its hard to measure inside with a tape measure. If the 1/2" line is a little past it I think it will fit like mine but if the 1/2" line is spot on or past it closer to the 35" it might not fit. But they will give you a full refund if it doent fit. Ask them because thats what I did I asked them before I bought the TV.
